The Intention...

Lior has been birthed with the intention of bringing a space of light to the community. Lior, meaning 'my light' invites you, to step into the calm, the acceptance and deep exhale of the space. Our founder Emily (Yoga teacher, Therapist, Coach and Doula), wanted to create a physical destination for people to come to, to shift their energy, to reset their day, to slow it down, to speed it up, to realign themselves, to root themselves, to elevates themselves, whatever they might need to feel their best self...

Whether it be sweating it out in the sauna and clearing your respiratory system with the warm salt wall, followed by contrast therapy with the cold bucket drop, or attending a dynamic power Yoga class, or perhaps a slow Hatha class, finding your strength through pilates or visiting one of our therapists...

Lior Wellness Studio is here for you, you are so welcome. Our diverse range of Yoga and movement classes cater for all fitness levels and Yoga abilities, so whether you are just starting out or have been practicing for a life time, Lior is for you. Lior is a holistic education and workshop space, offering a range of studies, from homeopathy to yoga teacher trainings, Doula trainings to insightful talks.

The Founder & her family influence

Emily Jean Jurriaanse opened Lior early 2025; a holistic centre to offer a space for holistic education and study, movement practices - predominately Yoga and treatments such as massage and sauna detoxing. As well as education and talks, Lior is a space for deep relaxation and rest, mind, body and soul and kind connections with like minded people.

Emily (with a professional background as a Doula, therapeutic counsellor & coach, and Yoga teacher) and passion for holistic medicine and living, wanted to bring her passions into one space, and offer the community an opportunity to better their everyday life through education, relaxation and a space to grow as a person physically, mentally and spiritually.

Emily grew up with influences from Stiener education, strong connection to land management and travel and feels that her family and ancestors very much influenced her passions and therefore the creation of Lior Wellness Studio.

Emily grew up in England to a mixed cultural family. The maternal side being all senior educators, from head masters in traditional study to lecturers of Rudolf Steiner. Her Dutch maternal side of the family were connected to the study of Anthroposophical Medicine: (a combination of conventional medicine with complementary spiritual and holistic therapies). Her grandfathers Dr Tom Jurriaanse and Adriaan Ernst Jurriaanse led the way with the development of biodynamic agriculture and the Anthroposophical movement in the Netherlands through their study; and by planting a forest of 1200 hectors in The Netherlands which became a protected area for rich biodiversity today. They utilized their estate and resources to foster alternative education, providing a dedicated space for teachers and families of De Vrije School (The Free School/Waldorf movement). Their community-building initiatives helped secure a foundational footprint for Waldorf education and anthroposophical initiatives in the Netherlands. Her grandparents both worked closely with the biodynamic farming movement then after, in England.

On the paternal side, the women of the family are art and movement therapists as well as psychotherapists, all very much creatives and artists and on the paternal side, a long line of care takers of the land in agriculture and irrigation. Grandparents on her maternal and paternal side both lived in Thailand which introduced Emily to Buddhism from age 8, entering into temples with her grandfathers lead as he honoured the Buddhist way. This very much inspired Emily and her sister's (Jesssica Noifeld - Middle Path Movement's founder who also study herbal medicine) journey to Yoga. They both now hold and host Yoga Teacher Trainings at Lior and beyond.

Emily's family are very much a mix of multiple cultures from across the globe, all with a desire of the study of life, the land, and holistic medicine. The golden thread through her families studies and findings pulled Emily to create this physical space that is today, Lior Wellness Studio - a space of light, gentleness, education, holistic study and practice, rooted in tradition but curiosity.

Emily is really grateful to her ancestors who brought her here today, and truly grateful to all the members and community that Lior brings.

I have joined the studio couple of months ago on membership basis, and it’s honestly the best thing I have done for my mental and physical wellbeing. With the freedom of choosing the classes you’d like to attend, it gives you the flexibility of finding out what really resonates with your needs.

All teachers are so warm and welcoming and the space itself is beautiful and calming.

I always look forward to coming in, wether it’s a class or amazing private sauna session.

Definitely worth trying it out - you won’t regret it!
