NEW CLASS 🔔
Starting this Wednesday 12.30pm ~ Postural Rehab
Sallie is running this Physiotherapist-led movement class which is designed for people who have to sit more than they would like. Through movement practices we develop our awareness of posture, and the way we hold our body in space. We balance out the effects of modern working life and time spent at a desk.
Although improved alignment and ‘better posture’ helps to put our body under less strain, any part of our body being held static for a long time will tire. The perfect posture is one which can and does change. Regular movement is key!
This class incorporates elements of clinical pilates and Scaravelli-inspired yoga. It differs from traditional matwork with it’s specific focus on posture, interweaving ideas from anatomy, neuroscience and human evolution. It aims to help you to understand more about yourself. We open by mobilising the body along with the mind, preparing to strengthen, load and explore postural awareness. We introduce the idea of movement snacks; short practices for you to take home with you, to welcome more movement into your day, and close by re-centring and calming the nervous system.
Booking is essential! Drop in to try for £12, book 10 classes ahead of time to commit, or join our membership options ✨

Meditating on the Lotus Flower
Two meditation suggestions:
1.Close your eyes, look in between your eyes brows (3rd eye), find the symbol of the lotus. Relax your jaw, roll your shoulders back and down, and keep coming back to the lotus flower. Let the energy of the lotus soften and uplift you. Keep coming back to the lotus flower. The thoughts will wander, but you return, internal dristi, back to the lotus flower.
Om mani padme hum
2. Light a candle, sit comfortably, focus on the flame, observe with no judgment, how it flickers, the colours, the movement. Observe what happens to the mind. Start with a minute or two, and increase over practice
Everyone can do this, gift yourself headspace

5.45pm-6.45pm Mat Pilates for beginners
Wind down from work with this energising yet relaxing pilates class. Learn and practise principles of good alignment, breathing and coordination. Using balls and bands, we will mobilise, work and stretch our way into the weekend.
Mary can chart her life through different phases of physical activity: after she retired from dance to have children, she took up running and started teaching fitness classes long before Fitness became the industry it is today. In 1994 she moved to London from the US to train to be an Alexander Technique teacher. Her subsequent search for a disciplined but less pugilistic approach to fitness led her to Pilates, which beautifully combines the precision and elegance of dance with the athleticism of fitness training. Her teaching is informed by her experience as a dancer as well as the lengthening and widening principles of the Alexander Technique. Her goals as a teacher are to get students stronger and more flexible, to increase their awareness of good alignment, to improve their coordination and control, and to help them learn how to move well without excess tension.
Mary first qualified in Matwork pilates almost 22 years ago with Michael King in London. Since then she has completed studio equipment and rehab training with Polestar Pilates, including a course in osteoporosis, and a full studio and matwork training with Alvin Quek and Irit Endleman at Pilates Clinic in London in 2008. She has also done Stott Pilates’ training courses in reformer and matwork with Brigitte Wrenn at Sea Breeze Pilates, where she currently teaches reformer classes and does private sessions.

Mantra Meditation
6.45pm Wednesday nights (right after Hatha Yoga)
It is said that chanting is one of the best forms of meditation for the time we are in; with constant distraction, the mind often needs a focus. By chanting Mantras, one is not just focusing the mind, but attuning the mind and body to the vibration of the sound the Mantra carries. In this class you will learn a variety of Sanskrit (sacred language of yoga) mantras, taking time to break down pronounciation and meaning before chanting with Malas (meditation beads) and singing with accompaniment of instruments. Finally we will rest in silent meditation - where the observer and the observed become one.

Lior House Blends
Lior X Barefoot Herbs 🌿
Working with herbs has been a big part of my everyday for years, personally, as a mother, for my Doula clients and Yoga. I’m so so honoured to collaborate with Nancy, Hasting’s local herbalist - with a wealth of knowledge of herbs.
You can buy our four house blends from the studio - all pure high grade essential oils are visible on the label.
Each blend gently works with your body to reach a desired state, for example:
if you want a blend to help your body relax before bed, you’d choose SLEEP.
If you are feeling anxious, over energised, and need to feel centred, you’d work with GROUND.
Need a little boost and to feel more focused, you’d choose ELEVATE
Feeling low energy, and want to feel brighter you’d go for WAKE UP
As the blends use such high grade essential oils, you only need a little amount as a massage oil, to apply to your wrists, temples, behind the ears etc. less is more.
£16 per bottle, ask your teacher next at class how to purchase easily via your class log in 🫶

Each room has a different feel at Lior…
This is the Movement Studio + Yoga Shala
I chose colours, elements and scents that would help drop you into a calm state when you enter the room. Elements from nature, colours from Earth and Yogic symbols.
Having lived in Thailand on and off for years, I was introduced to Buddhist Temples from a young age, I loved the norm of visiting beautiful, delicate, focused and clean spaces to go to, to connect and have always wanted to create an accessible space for people to experience this energy.
I have also worked with a local herbalist to create house massage blends: Wake up, Sleep, Ground & Elevate have been created to help you work with medicinal grade essential oils to encourage sensations and feelings in the body. Ask your teacher when you are next in class to help you purchase them 🌱
Thank you to our Ballet Barre teacher @scarlettwarrick for capturing these shots during a shoot this morning at Lior.

10• Sound Bath - Thursdays 7.30pm
During a Sound Bath, a variety of instruments such as Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls®, Frosted Crystal Bowls, Himalayan Singing Bowls, Gongs, chimes, flutes, and drums can be used. Participants lie down or sit comfortably, allowing the sounds to wash over and through them. As the vibrations fill the space, the body relaxes deeply, heart rate and blood pressure drop, and the mind enters a state of calm. This transition allows the nervous system to shift from the Sympathetic (fight or flight) state into the Parasympathetic (rest and heal) state, promoting physical healing and the release of deeply held tension. Breathing becomes deeper, and altered states of consciousness may arise, with brainwaves moving from the Beta (waking) state to Alpha (relaxed), Theta (dreamlike), and even Delta (regenerative).
📸 Elena Blank — Sound Alchemist & Certified Sound Healing Practitioner
Working primarily with Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls® by Crystal Tones®, Elena became a certified Sound Healing Practitioner in 2022. She was drawn to this powerful modality seeking to support personal well-being, emotional balance, and spiritual growth.
Elena’s Alchemy Sound sessions offer an immersive form of sound-induced meditation. These experiences provide a safe space for participants to relax, release tension, and explore different states of consciousness, emotions, and aspects of the self. The soundscapes created by the Alchemies® support participants in regulating the nervous system, reducing the effects of stress, and alleviating symptoms of both physical and mental discomfort.

Though my journey has since led me to a career as a photographer and director, ballet remains the foundation of my artistic vision. My training instilled a deep appreciation for the elegance of movement, the expressive power of the body, and the beauty found in discipline and grace. These elements continue to inspire my work, influencing how I capture storytelling, emotion, and form. Teaching allows me to return to my roots and share this enduring passion with others.
